In ASA rules if second base and has to be taken back disturbed, stop the UMP, the game time?
In a men's tournament, was the basis second place from his dislocated a runner passed by. When the play had finished the second UMP went back to the bag down and took about 3 minutes to dig for the shaft and replace the bag. The home plate UMP said this is no reason to stop the game clock, he was right? What is the ASA rule number to this request. My thought is that there is a safety issue and the time should be stopped in order to ensure the safety of all players and justice to both teams.
In every league I have played or coached in the referee will call time and ensure that the bases are secure. Since it does not say "Clock Game" in baseball, the home plate UMP " that is no reason to stop the game clock "leads me to believe that maybe because it's a tournament game that they had like a half-hour time limit and the exchange was the base is part of the time. In other words, they will not extend the deadline for the 3 minutes it took to replace the base.
