Why should the temperature gauge stay all the way too hot and not to move?
I have a 1998 Ford contour, which over heated 2 days ago. The low coolant light on the temperature gauge was all the way up and the check engine light was on. I replaced the fluid and changed the thermostat. The engine was light, and so the low coolant light, but for some reason, the temp gauge does not move. I've heard there is a switch that I might have to unplug and plug back in, but I can not find it.
Three ways: The sensor is damaged in the engine. The wiring of the sensor is damaged. The unit is damaged. If the meter is coupled with the engine switched off, it is the prime suspect. If it pegs as soon as the ignition is turned on, then turned to disconnect the sensor on most cars, the gauge on the cold claim that it is a bad sensor shows will go out. If none of these actions affect the doctrine, then it will be necessary to correct a trained technician with access to the relevant circuit diagrams and technical data to your car.
