Chrome molybdenum steel rods .. 2 pieces, they are press fit?
I bought new chrome-moly ram for my 61 Baja Bug. They came than two-piece, uncut, rods. I wonder, How do I install the end of the rod. Do I need to trim the bars to the right length? And the end is only a press conference in hardware? Any help would be great.
If the engine is stock? If so, then cut them (if necessary) to the same length as your old and you should be good. If it is not in stock (more cc, compression, CAM), it is crucial to proper valve train geometry. The way I install the ends, I would be an old lifter to set a fixed table and insert the rod into the lift with the cut end facing up. Place A little bit of blue Loc-tite on the end and put it on the poles and then I would take another old lifter and place it on the head up and beat you with a Hammer. Make sure it is just beginning.
