To me horse racing is not cruel. Yeah, it is devestating to see a horse get injured or die on the track, but SOME of the racing industry really does love their horses. Did you see what happened to Barbaro? They took sooo much care of him, but only so much could be done. Some trainers DO give their horses illegal injections and such, but that is their fault. Some people DO participate jsut for the money. But, the others really do take their horse's safety, and care into consideration. One thing I am against is the age that the horse starts racing. Though some racers do mature early, tat does not mean they are in perfect or near perfect condition to race.

Well I will probably get dissed and thumbs down too, but horse racing is my passion. So much so that I travel to New York every year to see the Belmont Stakes. Pictures of famous race horses adorn every room in my house. Yes, it is very sad when one breaks down, but it is also sad when a football player is injured, or a Nascar race has the big wreck. But accidents happen in most all sports. I have proudly taken pictures of Smarty Jones, Bluegrass Cat, Afleet Alex, Big Brown, etc. I have had my picture taken with Ron Turcott, who was Secretariat's jockey. So this is one gal that you will never have to worry about dissing you for loving the sport. I have been in it for my entire life. Oh boy, here come the thumbs down. Sigh!
