How much and hard-to-engine fuel injection add to 400?
I have a 1978 Trans Am with a rebuilt 6.6L 400 engine and I wanted to inject fuel how much should it cost? I take as a daily driver and I thought fuel injection may be better for the winter and I'm not going to sell it or Trade, it would test a new engine, whether the injection would not help.
I would become one of the aftermarket EFI throttle body style kits as the to seek simplest and cheapest solution, I know Summit Racing for the implementation of several. This way you can use your existing intake manifold, gas tank, Fuel lines, electrical, etc.. If a suitable donor car with the engine, computer, complete wiring and all the other little bits and pieces then a conversion is possible, but this is usually a large amount of work and a headache that lasts much to work out all bugs troubleshooting. There are conversion harnesses and Computers are available, makes this easier, but it will add more to the cost. I have a similar conversion that you are talking about a 1981 Chevy Truck 350 engine with Holley Projection Kit's done and it was a relaxing weekend project, which was relatively easy with good results. I have also helped to convert a friend a 1979 Chevy Truck Factory EFI with a 1988 donor truck and it was weeks of work, tests and more costs about the same results at the end.
