Is it possible to have a bad pump, electric fuel pump when the vehicle is still running?
If it is possible to run have a bad electric fuel pump and the vehicle still - what are the signs and symptoms that your fuel pump may be bad or is bad.Thanks - if it be for a 1987 GMC pickup with a 350 TBI issues. There are some really good helpful answers here.Some even my truck perfectly describes symptoms and others, looks to me like some numbers.It most of you a lot of trouble, so I would be hard pressed your responses to choose a best answer, I'll leave this up for a vote.Thanks replace all for your help.I 'm gonna my fuel pump this week.Thanks again!
Yes, your pump may be bad or go bad, and the vehicle still work. The only way to know for sure is to check the fuel pressure. 1. Remove the air filter and plugs Thermac vacuum port on throttle body unit. 2. Remove fuel line from TBI unit and fuel filter. Use to maintain an appropriate backup flare nut wrench to remove the throttle on line. 3. Install Fuel Gauge J-29 658 or equivalent, between the throttle and filtered. 4. Check the pressure reading with the engine running. Fuel pressure should be 9-13 psi. 5. De-pressure Fuel system, remove and reinstall fuel gauge line. 6. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks. 7. Remove the plug from Thermac vacuum port and install Air filter. *** This procedure has the TSB # 90-6C-89 was updated, Dated 9 / 90, some 1985 to 1990 engines equipped with 2.5L, 2.8L can, 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L or 7.4L will experience a condition where the fuel supply to the engine caused a no start condition "broken. This may be achieved by a deterioration of in-tank fuel pump Clutch hose between the fuel pump sending unit and fuel pump is caused. This condition can be repaired by replacing the original with a hose coupler VITON new coupler Hose Kit P / N 25,028,041th The kit consists of a new Viton hose and two clamps.
