How much should parts and labor costs to replace front brake pads and brake cylinder on a 2005 Chevy Malibu 4?
The local shop quoted 486.45. I looked at the cost of spare parts and its about 110 This work load seems a little high.
The quote is rather high, but prices for you Parts is found to be quite low. Two rotors and pads for $ 110? Sounds like you with cheap-o-pads and rotors were super thin. Brake pads are definitely something that You get what you pay for. This cheap pads, they claim are forever cheap b / c they are hard as bricks. Do you want to wear your pads and your rotors? There is something going on to wear down and its better pony up for better pads so you'll never have to replace rotors. I would ask for a breakdown of how much is parts and how lot of work. Did you ask if they could "turn" the rotors? The reduced cost on your part. I have all the stuff himself, so I need to pay only for parts.
