I have a 1995 Ford F350 4 door long bed diesel that has a bad rear pinion seal, it is difficult to change?
To do it right, it's a bit of work. To simply the pinion seal, which is simple. Remove the drive shaft back yoke. Get a large base and the impact gun and seal off the yoke. Pop out of the seal with a pry bar. Tap in the new seal. Put a bead of Fat around the rubber on the seal. Install the yoke. Place red lock tite on the threads. Tighten the pinion nut, there are 10 to 15 inch pounds of draw gear ..... difficult check with the carrier still in place. Install the drive shaft. The pinion has an eye on her sleeve in between the camps. It should never be used again, because it be what keeps the right amount of pressure on the bearings for longer life. I would never again a crush sleeve on a customer's car, but I have Pinion seal in the dirt done on my own vehicles in the desert and Mexico without any problems.
