Carb Lowered
Peugeot 205 starting. My 205 1.1 carb, 1991, doesn't start hot. It turns over for 15 seconds before starting?
then chucks out alot of black smoke. It seems its only when its been stopped for a couple of minutes hot, its always been serviced and has low mileage. It has just had new plugs and leads but this doen't help. I get good MPG, plugs are ok, emissions are a bit low. It hates choke when cold. It has a Solex 32 PBISA 16 carb. I lowered the float level, I think it helped a bit.
Some one said the accelerator pump could be leaking or the coil breaking down? Its done it since I have had it but I have asked others but no one has had a problem with the 1.1.
Any suggestions?
Nice to see someone who has actually done some homework instead of asking questions they could have already looked up on the net themselves.
I'd say it's pointing to the coil and would humbly suggest trying to borrow a known good one from someone or whipping to a motor factors or scrapyard. If you bought a new one and it wasn't that I suspect you could take it back, say you ordered completely the wrong item for a mate and get a credit note to spend on something else.
