how do I get bent 454 Chevy fuel pump rod to replace one?
The rod is bent just enough to get by 2 brought 1 1 / "on. The lower end is exactly in the middle of the "pump hole" so I can easily see it. It does not affect the cam even if cranked over. It is a BBC SO there is no plate to remove the page for easy access. Even needle nose vise can not get in the hole. In desperation I tried even a Tire iron with a lot of power. It does not budge. I gave up and bought a Holley blue pump. Problem there. The instructions say you MUST install the pump in the tank, because it works on gravity, is not removed. Well, this is impossible, because the tank is the lowest, indicating the car ('72 Nova). I am not willing to Fuel cells put in the trunk, because I've lost enough time and money on this problem and I'm just trying to sell the car. Excluding the front the machine apart, how do I get out the rod?
First of all I don `t believe it i` ve seen have been a mechanic for 30 years and have never or is a bent rod fuel pump on a GM or anything else, because they are made of solid steel, ... But if this is the case, as you say you take front and top of the engine take apart and threw them back and fix it right dont try to convert anything other than what it was for you, if you made only ask for more Anger and a good chance of a fire somehow ... Good luck but I don `t believe it and 454 in a 72 nova WTF scary when it's a drag strip car ...
